X-Mas Angel

Once again, a small conversion due to Christmas.

This time, I have once again selected 

a lady from my collection of duplicate figures.

First, I drew her wings on a piece of paper

to see how it would look.

Finally, I had the shape that appealed to me.

I traced the shape onto a piece of plastic.

Then I cut it out and bent part of it in the middle

so that I could attach the wings more easily.

I made a notch where the wings would go

and stuck the double-folded part into it.

While the wings were drying,

I made a halo out of a paperclip.

Drill a hole, cut a paperclip to length,

assemble, and my angel is ready.

So you see, with a few very simple steps,

this lady becomes an angel.

After a coat of primer, it's clear what it was supposed to be.

And with paint, it immediately looked completely different.

The silver highlights on her wings didn't stand out, so I added some glitter here.

Not much work, but a nice result!

Another addition to the X-Mas collection.

Candycanix

This time, another small project in which Abraracourix

gets into the Christmas spirit.

Once again, I started by cutting into the figure

from the 1970s to make it the way I had imagined it.

Where his hair has been cut away,

I make a reinforcement to create a Santa hat.

And where his sword was, I drill a hole 

in both his hands, then insert pieces of paper clip.

Can you recognize the shape yet?

Then back to work with the PVA line,

which I use in most projects.

After applying several layers of glue, a hat,

a beard, and some extra edges along his clothing appeared.

And when everything is dry,

apply a coat of primer so that it can be painted.

And look, is this Christmas spirit or what?

With just a few colors, 2 Christmas candy canes,

this chieftain appears to be on his way to his Christmas party.

Not too many details, but clearly a Christmas version now.

Asterix figures in a Christmas atmosphere:

I am already working on converting the next figure

from this series into a Christmas theme.

In addition to painting the Roman Soldiers.

AsteriX-mas with Handbell

This time, I also modified an old Asterix figure. 

I did this little project during my vacation after I had made the sedan chair.

I picked out a damaged figure of Asterix himself.

It's so much fun to build these figures

and see if the idea in your head comes to life.

So first, I'll cut away the parts I don't need.

I drilled a hole in his head and inserted a piece of a paper clip,

did the same to his hand, and under his feet,

as I do with all my figures.

That way, I can hold them securely when I stick them into a cork.

I made a new hat with PVA glue,

because the idea was to quickly make a Christmas version of him.

The most time-consuming part was working with the glue,

because it has to dry, of course.

But it was also a bit of a challenge,

because I wanted to make a bell out of layers of glue.

So I started at the bottom of the clapper

and carefully applied a circle of glue at the top.

Of course, this Santa Claus had to have a small beard,

and meanwhile, the bell slowly grew.

Add some extra details with glue,

such as the white edges on his clothes.

It's really nice that this is all built with glue.

It takes some time, but it works well!

Once I was satisfied,

I applied a coat of primer over the entire surface,

ready to be painted!

That bell turned out really well.

You can see how hollow it is.

It's really bizarre that this works

with such simple cheap wood glue.

When I started painting,

I noticed a few details I had forgotten, stupid of me...

So I quickly added a few more layers, 

and decided to paint a day later.

It's vacation time, so there's plenty of time!

And let's be honest, isn't it a Christmas figure?

Not a particularly remarkable conversion, of course.

Mainly red, white, black, and green.

But a nice  X-mas addition besides:

ObeliX-mas

X-mas Druïde

But the bell in particular was what this little project was all about.

I am very happy with the result,

let's see if I can expand the “Christmas” series even further.

X-mas girl

Like every year in december

this is my december duel entry in X-mas style

And like most of the times I lost

My opponent had painted her as a Bavarian beer lady, 

really a great job like she walked out of the Ocktoberfest!

But for me it was another Christmas entry

and also my december post on my blog as well

This figure is from Reaper Miniatures

but I missed some details what could have made her better

She is made from metal, the arm with cup had to be glued

The cup was decorates with a dear (Rudolph)

And I must say some parts where extra fun to paint

but for me it was also hard to do it right

Since X-mas is over, and we are getting into 2023
